Zia Takes O’ahu
ʻanakē = aunt

Joanne, aka Zia, aka Aunt Awesome made it all the way from New York City to visit us (and attend a yoga retreat in Ka’a’awa). It is so special to share this place with loved ones, so we took her to many of our favorite places. We also explored some new-to-us places like the Honolulu Museum of Art (which has a fine collection of Japanese prints, Joanne’s area of expertise!), watching the free Polynesian dancing show at the International Market, the lookout at Laie, and DECK restaurant near Diamondhead. She was especially taken with the flora of the isle and fell in love with monkeypod trees. She also gave comfort to our Smudgey when he was forced into the cone of shame after an injury, and she loved watching sunrises from our lanai.
Take a look!
