Halona Beach Cove
Halona Blowhole and Beach Cove is a 7-10 minute drive from our place in Hawaii Kai and it has quickly become a favorite. It’s mostly locals and is a fabulous place whether you want to get in the water or not.

This was the only beach I felt comfortable driving to in the Ridiculous Car (see previous post on Paradise Limited) and so was the first beach I visited solo.
Fun Fact – the famous scene in “From Here to Eternity” was filmed here.
.
At high tide, the waves crashing on the outer rocks become even more fun to watch, and the swimmers in the cove are jostled around more than at low tide.
Troy and I have spent a pleasant hour just watching the waves, but we also regularly jump into the surf to play.

View of Sandy Beach from Halona Blowhole
Halona is nestled between Sandy Beach (River’s favorite) and Hanauma Bay. They say that if you’re not careful in Sandy’s crazy currents, you’ll end up at Halona! I hope to never find out.
The blowhole is a cave where the waves force water up through an opening in the top. I need to get a good photo of it to add to this post 🙂
